The Cougar is a family of medium Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles which are available in 4X4 or 6X6 configuration and also in “national variants” (British models: Ridgeback and Mastiff). It can be configured for a wide range of tasks including troop carrier (up to 12 in the 6X6), EOD (4 troops and a large EOD robot in the 4X4), command and control, artillery prime mover, recovery and ambulance duty. The vehicle belongs to the MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) class. Special reinforced V-shaped chassis (aka the capsule) protects the crew against an explosion of 7 kg TNT placed under the vehicle.
